Junior High Track Teams Sweep Athens In Regular Season Finale

The Wellsboro Junior High Track teams closed out their regular season undefeated by sweep Athens on Thursday, May 1.
The young Lady Hornets won 76-33 while the boys won 67-42.
For the girls, Ryleigh Sporer won the 100m (14.22) with Dillyn Patt (14.28) taking 3rd, Paige Rush was 2nd in the 200m (31.23), Sporer won the 400m (1:05.46), Kaci Kosek won the 800m (2:45.64) with Addie Chaborek (3:11.79) in 3rd, and Anna Rivera was 4th in the 1600m (7:37.13). Olive Twoey won the 100m (18.75) with Lilly Sprouse (18.90) in 2nd.
Wellsboro also swept the relays, winning the 4x100m in 58.21 and the 4x400m in 5:09.10.
Penelope Pell and June Roth both cleared 5-ft, 2 in the high jump to finish 1-2, Emaleigh Hamblin (13-ft, 3.25), Pell (12-ft, 9) and Kate Satalin (12-ft, 4) swept the long jump, and Roth (29-ft, 10.5) and Pell (28-ft, 5.75) finished 1-2 in the triple jump.
Brooke Hamblin won the shot put with a throw of 27-ft, 4 and Kaydence Pierce won the discus with a throw of 66-ft, 5.5.
For the boys, Liam Stevens was 2nd in the 100m (12.96) and won the 200m (26.94), Jacob Patterson (1:10.26) was 6th in the 400m, Lucas Taboada (3:11.15) was 3rd in the 800m, Daniel Taboada (5:59.81), William Rudy (6:27.99) and Lucas Taboada (6:41.85) swept the 1600m, and Justin Dunlap (21.19) won the 100m hurdles.
Wellsboro split the relays races, winning the 4x100m in 50.50. They were 2nd in the 4x400m in 4:49.84.
Cody Tomlinson was 2nd in the high jump (5-ft, 4), Stevens (17-ft, 5.5), Colton Hauser (16-ft, 3) and Desmun Hennigan (15-ft, 5.75) swept the long jump, and Hennigan (35-ft, 5.25) and Hauser (32-ft, 5) finished 1-2 in the triple jump.
Conlen Whitsell (42-ft, 1), Ari Snyder (27-ft, 11.5) and Case Butler (24-ft, 0.5) swept the shot put. The trio also swept the discus with Whitsell (123-ft, 4), Snyder (90-ft, 3.5) and Butler (82-ft, 9.75) finishing 1-2-3.
Both teams finished the season 4-0 and will participate in next week's NTL Junior High Championships on Thursday, May 8.
