Junior High Track Teams Sweep Troy

Wellsboro's Junior High Track teams both improved to 2-0 on the season after they swept Troy on Monday afternoon.

The boys team won 95-14 while the girls team won 63-46.

For the girls, Ryleigh Sporer won both the 100m (14.55) and the 200m (30.88) with Paige Rush (15.06) taking 2nd in the 100m. Sporer also took 1st in the 400m (1:05.55). Kaci Kosek was 2nd in the 800m (2:50.59) with Addie Chaborek (3:06.98) in 3rd. Kosek also won the 1600m (6:16.63) and Olive Twoey won the 100m hurdles (18.17).

Wellsboro swept both relays, winning the 4x100m in 58.19 and the 4x400m in 5:14.18.

June Roth won the high jump (4-ft, 7) and was 2nd in the long jump (14-ft, 0.5) with Rush (12-ft, 11.75) taking 3rd. Roth was 2nd in the triple jump (29-ft, 1.5) with Kate Satalin (25-ft, 7.75) finishing 3rd. Rosa Cole (20-ft, 6) finished 7th in the shot put and Kaydence Pierce (60-ft, 2.5) came home 2nd in the discus.

For the boys, Cody Tomlinson (13.61) and Desmun Hennigan (13.67) took home the top two spots in the 100m, and Tomlinson won the 200m (28.00). Wellsboro swept the 400m with Austin DeShazo (1:08.41), Damon Boyce (1:11.62) and Case Butler (1:13.02) taking the top three spots. Jacob Patterson (1:15.26) was 4th.

Taitt Webster (2:54.88) and Jesse Spicer (3:00.05) were 2nd and 3rd in the 800m, Daniel Taboada (6:07.11) and Webster (6:24.88) were 1st and 2nd in the 1600m, and Justin Dunlap (21.50) won the 100m hurdles.

Wellsboro won both the 4x100m (52.78) and the 4x400m (4:58.65) relays.

Tomlinson (5-ft), Boyce (4-ft, 6) and Dunlap (4-ft, 6) swept the high jump, Colton Hauser (15-ft, 11), Hennigan (15-ft, 7.25) and Boyce (12-ft, 4) swept the long jump, and Hennigan (33-ft, 11), Hauser (31-ft, 1) and Boyce (25-ft, 8.25) swept the triple jump.

Conlen Whitsell and Ari Snyder both took 1st and 2nd in the shot put and discus. Whitsell threw 38-ft, 7.5 to capture 1st place in the shot and 126-ft, 10 in the discus while Snyder threw 29-ft, 6 in the shot and 101-ft, 9 in the discus.

Both teams are back in action next Thursday as they host Northeast Bradford.
