Lady Hornets Cap Perfect 2026 Season By Sweeping Athens, Canton On Senior Night

The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Track team finished their regular season a perfect 13-0 as they swept Athens and Canton Tuesday afternoon during their Senior Night.
The Lady Hornets ran away with the meet scoring 94.5 points. Athens was 2nd with 68.5 and Canton came home 3rd with 26 points.
Junior Piper Hoprich won both the 100m (12.53) and 200m (25.62) with sophomore Luna Moyer placing 3rd in both (13.42 and 28.04). Junior Lauren Kosek took 2nd in the 400m (1:08.71) then swept the 800m (2:33.64), 1600m (6:05.41) and the 3200m (13:34.57). Freshman Olive Twoey (18.01), sophomore Jennifer Belz (18.78) and freshman Lilly Sprouse (20.49) were 2nd-4th in the 100m hurdles, and sophomore Isla Twoey (51.80), Olive Twoey (53.71) and sophomore Piper Perry (54.16) took 2nd-4th in the 300m hurdles.
Senior Olivia Gage (4-ft, 6) won the high jump with fellow senior Kristina Belz (4-ft, 6) in 3rd. Senior Megan Mosher (7-ft) and junior Ellie Largey (7-ft) finished 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault, Kristina Belz (16-ft, 7.25) won the long jump with Mosher (14-ft, 1) and senior Ella Boyce (13-ft, 7.5) in 2nd and 4th, and Kristina Belz (32-ft, 2.5) and freshman Penelope Pell (28-ft, 9.5) were 1st and 3rd in the triple jump.
Sophomore Katie Whitney took 5th in the shot put (26-ft ,2) and 3rd in the discus (81-ft, 6) while junior Sienna Zengerle (87-ft, 6) and senior Taylor Main (76-ft, 0.5) were 2nd and 3rd in the javelin.
Wellsboro won the 4x100m relay (52.01) and were 2nd in both the 4x400m (4:39.75) and the 4x800m (12:36.59).
The team is back in action Friday at the BlueJay Classic at Central Columbia in Bloomsburg.
