Seeling Breaks 300 Hurdles Record; Hornets Take 2nd To Athens On Senior Night

Senior David Seeling broke Wellsboro's 300m hurdles record in yesterday's tri-meet with Athens and Canton during Senior Night.
Seeling smoked the field by almost seven seconds, running a 41.47 to eclipse Jack Chambers' electronic mark of 41.88 set back in 2015 and Todd Rudy's handheld time of 41.74 set back in 1988.
The Hornets finished 2nd as a team with 76.33 points, finishing in the middle of Athens (91.66) and Canton (20). The 2nd place finish was the Hornets' only blemish on their regular season record this year.
Senior Jacoby Strang (12.11) took 2nd in the 100m with sophomore Xavier Lecker (12.30) in 4th, senior Jonathan Carl (23.88) won the 200m, sophomore Logan Johnson (57.09) and senior Aaron Kirk (59.28) were 3rd and 4th in the 400m, freshman Taitt Webster (2:28.86) and Johnson (2:30.93) were 5th and 6th in the 800m, senior Henry Whitney (4:36.94) took 1st in the 1600m with senior Jude Cuneo (4:45.80) in 3rd, senior Henry Nowak (12:21.52) and senior Max Macias (12:21.93) were 4th and 5th in the 3200m, and sophomore Brayden Benjamin (17.53) won the 100m hurdles.
Seeling (6-ft, 2) won the high jump then turned around and won the pole vault (9-ft), Benjamin (18-ft, 11), freshman Liam Stevens (18-ft, 10), Carl (17-ft, 10.5), and sophomore Ransom Schultz (17-ft, 7.75) swept the long jump, and Carl (40-ft, 7), Seeling (39-ft, 9) and freshman Desmun Hennigan (36-ft, 9.25) swept the triple jump.
Schultz (40-ft, 10) and freshman Conlen Whitsell (37-ft) finished 3rd and 4th in the shot put, Schultz (108-ft, 2.5), Whitsell (107-ft, 9), and senior Jacob Thurstin (97-ft, 6.5) were 4th-6th in the discus, and Schultz (116-ft, 5) took 2nd in the javelin.
Wellsboro was 2nd in the 4x100m relay (46.97), 3rd in the 4x400m relay (4:21.37) and 2nd in the 4x800m relay (10:13.12).
The team is back in action Friday at the BlueJay Classic at Central Columbia in Bloomsburg.
